Software Engineer II, Backend (Card)

We're looking for a motivated Software Engineer II, Backend to help build scalable systems and seamless checkout experiences for card products.

🎯 Responsibilities

  1. Break larger projects into individual tasks, deliver work in multiple phases, and collaborate with teammates to ensure timely delivery.
  2. Partner with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and product development.
  3. Communicate technical constraints and contribute to decisions that appropriately consider risks and trade-offs.
  4. Support the operation and availability of team-owned systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues when needed, and participating in keep-the-lights-on efforts.
  5. Participate in an on-call rotation.
  6. Contribute to team growth and development activities, including the interview process.

🛠️ Requirements

  1. 2+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  2. Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
  3. Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
  4. Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  5. Ability to write high-quality, clear, maintainable, and reusable code.
  6. Comfort working in a large codebase, debugging code written by others, and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
  7. Ability to translate business scenarios into solutions spanning multiple software components.
  8. Experience writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
  9. Ownership of your professional growth, including proactively seeking feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
  10. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

💳 Team and Product

  1. Work on the Card Checkout team within the Direct to Consumer organization.
  2. Help develop the in-app experience for card products.
  3. Collaborate as part of a full-stack team of backend and mobile engineers, working closely with product, design, and analytics.
  4. Build high-quality, scalable, flexible platforms that support seamless checkout experiences.

💰 Compensation

  1. Base pay range: €73,000–€109,000 per year.
  2. Base Pay Grade: L.
  3. Equity Grade: Spain 3.
  4. Compensation may include monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology expenses.
  5. Eligible employees may receive equity rewards and participate in an employee stock purchase plan.
