Software Engineer II, Backend (Card)

We're looking for a motivated Software Engineer II, Backend to help build scalable systems and seamless checkout experiences for card products.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Break larger projects into individual tasks, deliver work in multiple phases, and collaborate with teammates to ensure timely delivery.
• Partner with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and product development.
• Communicate technical constraints and contribute to decisions that appropriately consider risks and trade-offs.
• Support the operation and availability of team-owned systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues when needed, and participating in keep-the-lights-on efforts.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Contribute to team growth and development activities, including the interview process.

🛠️ Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write high-quality, clear, maintainable, and reusable code.
• Comfort working in a large codebase, debugging code written by others, and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
• Ability to translate business scenarios into solutions spanning multiple software components.
• Experience writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
• Ownership of your professional growth, including proactively seeking feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

💳 Team and Product

• Work on the Card Checkout team within the Direct to Consumer organization.
• Help develop the in-app experience for card products.
• Collaborate as part of a full-stack team of backend and mobile engineers, working closely with product, design, and analytics.
• Build high-quality, scalable, flexible platforms that support seamless checkout experiences.

💰 Compensation

• Base pay range: €73,000–€109,000 per year.
• Base Pay Grade: L.
• Equity Grade: Spain 3.
• Compensation may include monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology expenses.
