We're looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer to lead backend development across multiple products, shape the technology strategy, and build a unified engineering function. This product-oriented role combines people management, architecture, technical decision-making, and direct collaboration with product stakeholders and the CEO.

🎯 Responsibilities

1. Lead backend development across multiple products and own the engineering roadmap for new features.
2. Decide on and evolve the technology stack, owning key architectural and technical trade-offs.
3. Manage the existing backend engineer while remaining hands-on in development and technical delivery.
4. Lead the development of new technical solutions for products on the roadmap, as well as improvements to existing products.
5. Bring AI and automation into the products, identifying opportunities to automate client workflows and accelerate delivery.
6. Establish engineering frameworks, standards, processes, and ways of working across the product portfolio.
7. Work closely with product stakeholders and the CEO to understand business and client needs, then translate them into a technical roadmap and new features.
8. Make informed decisions about when to rebuild, improve, or patch existing systems.
9. Help develop a unified engineering function as the team grows.

🛠️ Requirements

1. At least 5 years of hands-on backend engineering experience, ideally across multiple products.
2. At least 1 year of experience managing or leading engineers.
3. Experience making and owning technology stack decisions.
4. Experience building engineering processes and team structures from the ground up.
5. Genuine interest in applying AI and automation directly to product development.
6. Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.
7. Experience working with some or all of the current stack: Kotlin, Python, React, LangGraph, AWS, and Snowflake.
8. Willingness to remain hands-on while managing people and leading technical direction.
