Role Description
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to partner with our CTO in running the engineering organization on a day-to-day basis. You’ll be the operational backbone of the team — ensuring that engineering squads are aligned, communication flows smoothly across teams, and collaboration with product, design, and other stakeholders is effective and consistent.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll balance people management with process excellence, helping the team ship high-quality work while maintaining a healthy, motivated engineering culture. Experience with or strong understanding of agentic AI development frameworks is essential — our engineering workflows are deeply integrated with Claude Code, and you’ll need to understand how teams work within this paradigm to lead effectively.
What You’ll Do
• Partner with the CTO to define and execute the engineering roadmap, translating strategic goals into actionable plans for the team.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the engineering team: sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and delivery tracking across multiple squads.
• Act as the communication bridge between engineering teams, product management, and other stakeholders — ensuring alignment, transparency, and fast decisionmaking.
• Foster a collaborative and high-trust engineering culture where people do their best work, give and receive feedback openly, and grow professionally.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and career development for engineers — helping the team scale while maintaining quality and culture.
• Drive engineering best practices around code quality, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and incident response.
• Understand and actively participate in workflows built around agentic development frameworks (particularly Claude Code), ensuring the team leverages these tools effectively.
• Identify and remove blockers, manage cross-team dependencies, and ensure smooth delivery of features and projects.
• Contribute to technical decision-making by understanding trade-offs, even if you’re not writing code daily — your technical judgment matters.
• Champion process improvements that help the team move faster without sacrificing quality or wellbeing.
Who You Are
• You have 3+ years of experience in engineering management or a technical lead role, with a track record of leading and growing software teams.
• You have a strong technical background in software engineering — you’ve been a developer and understand the challenges your team faces from first-hand experience.
• You have experience with or strong understanding of agentic AI development frameworks and how they integrate into engineering workflows. Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar tools is highly valued.
• You’re an excellent communicator who can translate between technical and business contexts, and who keeps stakeholders informed without overhead.
• You have experience facilitating cross-team collaboration in fast-moving environments, ideally in startups or scale-ups.
• You’re a people-first leader who genuinely cares about the growth, wellbeing, and effectiveness of your team members.
• You have experience with agile methodologies and know how to adapt processes to the needs of the team rather than follow rigid frameworks.
• You’re comfortable working with cloud-native architectures and modern development stacks (experience with AWS & GCP is a plus).
• You have familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, or a genuine curiosity and willingness to dive deep into the domain.
• You have a high level of English; Spanish is a plus.
• Prior experience in startups or fast-paced, high-growth environments is strongly preferred.
