We're looking for a hands-on Head of Data to lead pricing and revenue intelligence, build data products that measurably improve business outcomes, and guide a high-performing data team.
🎯 Responsibilities
- Turn platform data into revenue for hotels by understanding how hoteliers use the product and translating insights into clear, trusted recommendations and actions.
- Prioritize the highest-value opportunities, ship solutions, measure their impact, and expand what works.
- Make the financial impact of data products measurable and visible to hoteliers within the product.
- Establish rigorous platform-level measurement and evaluate results for individual hotels against comparable hotels that did not use the solution.
- Define measurement rules before features launch and ensure results are evaluated consistently.
- Co-own the roadmap for revenue-focused products with Product Managers and Designers.
- Define the data and models behind these products, ensuring every revenue feature includes a measurable hypothesis and a way to learn from its results.
- Lead the data foundation, including the warehouse, pipelines, instrumentation, company reporting, and self-service analytics.
- Set clear standards and service levels so the data foundation reliably serves both people and AI agents.
- Own company-wide metric definitions and ensure each metric has one consistent definition.
- Serve as the senior data voice on the leadership team.
- Set and maintain standards for the quality, access, and privacy of guest and hotel data across four countries.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a small team of data engineers and data analysts.
- Hire effectively, establish growth paths, provide feedback, and create an environment where the team can thrive.
- Lead by building alongside the team and stay actively involved in delivery.
- Write SQL and Python, ship models, debug pipelines, and review code.
🛠️ Technology environment
- AWS-based data platform
- Redshift and dbt for data modeling
- Airflow, Airbyte, and Glue for ingestion and orchestration
- SageMaker for machine learning models
- Cube as the semantic layer for dashboards and AI tools
- Internal AI assistant and agent services
- Code-based development and deployment through GitHub
📊 How success will be measured
- Data-driven features are in production and deliver measurable impact.
- Revenue impact is measured rigorously across the platform, made visible to each hotelier in the product, and supported by a defensible methodology.
- Impact is evaluated over an appropriate period, recognizing that meaningful results may take months to become statistically significant.
- Hotels adopt recommendations and automation and continue using them.
- Reporting and pipelines operate reliably without depending on a single person.
- The team remains healthy and stable, has clear growth paths, and ships to customers every week.
🧭 Requirements
- Experience building data products rather than only producing dashboards.
- Track record of shipping models, recommendations, or pricing logic into customer-facing products and demonstrating business impact.
- Ability to explain an initiative that did not work and the reasons why.
- Strong hands-on skills in SQL, Python, modern data tooling, and experimentation.
- Experience leading a small data team in a startup environment, including hiring, team development, standards, platform reliability, and working with limited resources and evolving processes.
- Strong understanding of experimentation and causal measurement, including when to use A/B tests, matched controls, holdouts, or synthetic controls.
- Commitment to accurate, transparent measurement and the ability to communicate results that are defensible.
- Customer-focused approach and comfort owning a revenue-related business outcome.
- Experience using AI-first approaches, including agents, LLM pipelines, and automation.
- Highly collaborative working style, with experience partnering closely with Product, Design, Engineering, leadership, and customer-facing teams.
- Fluent English.
